LOCAL ISSUES, Silk Road Region. Circa 5th-8th centuries. Bracteate (Gold, 18 mm, 1.00 g, 6 h), imitating a solidus of Anastasius I from Constantinopolis, after 507. Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust facing slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and shield, decorated with cavalryman on horseback, with his left; around, blundered legend. Rev. Victory standing front, head to left, holding long jeweled cross in her right hand; around, blundered VICTORIA AVGGG. Cf. SB 5 (for prototype). The flan somewhat wavy, otherwise, very fine.
